Sugar Skulls Wrap

What an exciting addition to my store. I am so excited to offer this soft and cuddly Sugar Skull Wrap, and help celebrate this wonderful Mexican tradition. I love the way the bright colored skulls look on the jet black background. It will be offered with one of the "Bella" fabrics, but please feel free to contact me with any other color requests. Minky manufacturers are now able to print anything on Minky fabric without loosing ANY of its softness. In fact, sometimes the printing process makes it even softer.

Wrap Sizing Guide: Please see the pictures above for sizing help and recommendations.  Wraps are not like shoes or pants that "need to fit". All wrap sizes can be used by any size of person. A "Large Wrap" will fit both a 4 foot' person & 6 foot person. However, it would hang over a 4' person's shoulders & down past their fingertips, & it would probably only hit a 6' person's elbows. ALL WRAPS ARE REVERSABLE AND EITHER SIDE CAN BE WORN ON THE OUTSIDE.

Day of the Dead & Sugar Skulls History:

  1. Day of the Dead is an interesting holiday celebrated in central and southern Mexico during the chilly days of November 1 & 2. Even though this coincides with the Catholic holiday called All Soul’s & All Saint’s Day, the indigenous people have combined this with their own ancient beliefs of honoring their deceased loved ones. They believe that the gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31, and the spirits of all deceased children (angelitos) are allowed to reunite with their families for 24 hours. On November 2, the spirits of the adults come down to enjoy the festivities that are prepared for them.
  2.  Sugar skulls represented a departed soul, had the name written on the forehead and was placed on the home ofrenda or gravestone to honor the return of a particular spirit. Sugar skulls are labor intensive and made in very small batches in the homes of sugar skull makers.
