Sugar Skulls Travel Blanket

What an exciting addition to my store. I am so excited to offer this soft and cuddly Sugar Skull Blanket and help celebrate this wonderful Mexican tradition. I love the way the bright colored skulls look on the jet black background. It will be offered with one of the "Bella" fabrics, but please feel free to contact me with any other color requests. Minky manufacturers are now able to print anything on Minky fabric without loosing ANY of its softness. In fact, sometimes the printing process makes it even softer.

Choose one of the "Bella" Colors for the back side and I will put it together with the "Sugar Skulls" print on the front side of the travel blanket. (See pictures above to see and example of the color combination.)

Description of what you're getting - The Travel Blanket is approximately 40" x 60" when it's unfolded. When you're on the go, it folds up into a 12" x 18" pillow. Each Travel Blanket includes the Blanket, attached storage pillow, toggle closure on the pillow, & a "D" ring attached to one corner of the pillow for a variety of carrying options.  Look for the Travel Handle Upgrade, it's optional but worth penny.  It is a matching fur handle that clips on to the ring. You will also get another "D" ring (one ring on both sides of the pillow. ) and Carabiner for even more carrying options.  DIVINE Fabric, Lock-down quilting stitch, and travel handle upgrade is optional.

How to Store the Blanket in the pocket. (see picture above)

  1. Locate the toggle button & pocket.
  2. Pull the pocket out that is tucked inside the blanket.
  3. With the pocket out, and using your fingers, start gathering and stuffing the blanket into the pocket.
  4. Flatten, squish or fluff to make desired pillow shape.
  5. Fasten toggle through the buttonhole.

Day of the Dead & Sugar Skulls History:

  1. Day of the Dead is an interesting holiday celebrated in central and southern Mexico during the chilly days of November 1 & 2. Even though this coincides with the Catholic holiday called All Soul’s & All Saint’s Day, the indigenous people have combined this with their own ancient beliefs of honoring their deceased loved ones. They believe that the gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31, and the spirits of all deceased children (angelitos) are allowed to reunite with their families for 24 hours. On November 2, the spirits of the adults come down to enjoy the festivities that are prepared for them.
  2.  Sugar skulls represented a departed soul, had the name written on the forehead and was placed on the home ofrenda or gravestone to honor the return of a particular spirit. Sugar skulls are labor intensive and made in very small batches in the homes of sugar skull makers.
